EURO PACE - A word from the President

Michel GARNIER

Michel Garnier President of Europace

The 27th International Junior Basketball Competition will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 26 and 27
For the first time since its creation in 1985, an English team – from London – will take part in this sporting event.
The Swiss- who have been absent for 14 years – will be back with a team from Monthey – Collombey.
The team from Jinan in China will also be back after their first Pacé tournament last year.
There will also be teams from Algeria, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic, as well as the local teams from Pacé, Mordelles, Chartres de Bretagne, Vitré, Charenton, and Liffré.
Other French teams will come from Mayenne and Deux-Sèvres, and we will have two delegations from Reunion, in the Indian Ocean.

As well as the junior boys tournament, we will have for the first time this year a tournament for the girls.
Four teams : Strakonice (Czech Republic), Logroño (Spain), Pacé, and Saint-Gilles will play for the trophy.
These games will take place on Saturday the 26th from 1:15pm at the Saint-Gilles sports centre.
The final will be played on Sunday  at 2:15pm at the Iroise centre in Pacé.

Three cultural groups – from China, Reunion and Romania- will entertain us for two days under the big tent at the sports complex in the centre of Pacé.
As usual, entry is free of charge and you can come and see the stands of the different nations, as well as those of Pacé's own associations.

I sincerely thank the host families who have agreed to accommodate the young players and delegation members. Without their generosity, the tournament simply could not happen.
I would also like to thank all the volunteers, the village of Pacé and the sponsors for their help and generosity. Thanks also go to the students and teachers of the  Lande du Breuil school, who have assisted so much in the preparation and organisation of this sporting and cultural event.
I invite everyone to come and cheer and encourage all the participants, and to share a great weekend together.
